Mexico Housing Hunt: Monthly Rentals Win for Long Stays - Time to Build the Budget

After a little research on Vacation Rentals, I have found out that renting a room by the month is more cost-effective than renting by the week or night.

For a longer trip like this one, it makes total sense. Shorter bookings jack up the price per day with cleaning fees, turnover costs, and peak rates. Monthly deals often drop the nightly equivalent way down, plus you get more space to feel like home. Kitchen for snacks, laundry maybe, room to spread out after a day of exploring.

I need to start crunching some numbers and get an overall budget for this trip.

That means listing out everything: flights (or drive if possible), housing (aiming monthly in a spot like Playa del Carmen or Cancun area), food (mix eating out and cooking), transportation (buses, taxis, rentals), excursions (cenotes, ruins, beaches), and extras like souvenirs or unexpected fun. I want this to be epic but smart. No blowing the savings on one bad choice.

Let the number-crunching begin...
